Initial Examination
After filling out some brief paperwork, we begin your first visit with a consultation. Dr. Stuart Weitzman will meet with you to determine if your problem is a case that he can help you with. If not, he will refer you to the appropriate health care professional. If he accepts your case for care, we then go over your health history and your condition together to get the whole picture.
Dr. Weitzman will give you an orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic examination. Depending on your history and what we may find in the exam, Dr. Stuart Weitzman may take or refer you for imaging, of your spine or relevant areas to confirm exam findings, check the structure for misalignment, and to help determine approximately how long the problem has been there.
The Initial Exam consists of:
- Chiropractic tests that consist of static and motion palpation of the muscles, ligaments and joints relating to the spinal column and extremities.
- Orthopedic tests.
- Neurological tests.
- Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), if appropriate.
- X-rays (if necessary) to check the structure for misalignment, and to help determine approximately how long the problem has been there. At this point we have enough information, to determine if we need to refer you to other providers, and figure out a care plan to begin care and get the best results for you.
Before your first visit, please fill out the new patient paperwork.
